Requests for page protection

This page is for requesting that a page, file or template be protected. Please read up on the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used only to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, the protection is listed in the page history and logs with a short description indicating why it was protected, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. Further discussion should take place on the Talk page of the article. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins do not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Note: Editors should not consider requesting page protection as a method for continuing an argument from elsewhere nor as a venue for starting a new discussion regarding article content. If a request contains excessive argument, appears to be intended to resolve a content dispute, includes personal attacks or uncivil comments, or has any other unrelated discussion, it will be removed from this page and no action will be taken.

Kadir Mısıroğlu

Reason: The page has already been silverlocked, because it has been subject to unsourced conspiracy addtions from a sockpuppet army (i.e. typical LTA). The sockmaster's new tactic is using IPs on the article's talk page for claiming that the article is "unbalanced" (since it doesn't depict the conspiracy theory nonsense as "facts"), and then using an autoconfirmed account for adding the undue weight template to the article. I suppose that the problem can only be resolved by Bluelocking the article. Best regads, --Johannes (Talk) (Contribs) (Articles) 14:16, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Eric C. Conn

Reason: From what I could tell from what I could find of the original deletion of the article, it appears to me that it was originally deleted due to violation of WP:N. Conn is convicted of defrauding the United States Government in a massive conspiracy of half a billion dollars. He was the subject of a manhunt for more than six months from several federal law enforcement agencies, to include the Social Security Administration Office of the Inspector General and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. When the original article was opened, he was merely a random attorney but has since crossed that threshold into being notable, in my opinion. There have been articles written about the man in major news sources, such as The Wall Street Journal, the Lexington Herald-Leader, and National Public Radio. Additionally, his fraud scheme was featured in an episode of CNBC's American Greed: Scams, Scoundrels and Scandals and a documentary series titled The Big Conn on Apple TV+ has been created outlining the scheme.

I don't want to go into the whole "whataboutism" but I could easily point out plenty of topics that exist on Wikipedia that are much less notable than Eric C. Conn. I assume that the original reason the page was deleted was that it was fashioned as a straight-up advertisement, but I feel there is enough to write a fairly sufficient Wikipedia article. I recently watched the AppleTV+ docuseries and wanted to know a little more about what happened, especially since I'm from that area and used to see his billboards all over the place "back home." When I noticed there was no article, I decided I'd go ahead and create it for anyone that might also be curious but ran into the "create-protected" block.

In fairness, I have no idea why the page was "create-protected" (a strange concept from my understanding of the mission/purpose of Wikipedia?), but I haven't been heavily involved in editing Wikipedia in a few years. Thank you for your time and careful consideration of this request. — HiB2Bornot2B talk Go Big Blue! 23:06, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The page was originally protected in May 2007 by BorgQueen. Courtesy pinging BorgQueen for your input please. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 23:36, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Im obviously not her, buuuuut I would still like to give my input on this peculiar situation…A create-protect in 2007? Geez, even if the story was minor at the time, you’d think someone in FIFTEEN YEARS would’ve managed to hear about him and double checked. Or even an appropriately leveled admin could’ve gone and created the page. Not saying OP doesn’t deserve credit but geez it’s a shame it didn’t happen sooner. I CreecregofLife (talk) 09:21, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Your input is not required, CreecregofLife. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 12:52, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Did not know BorgQueen was still around. @HiB2Bornot2B: Maybe establish notability as a draft? That would strengthen the case for allowing creation. --Deepfriedokra (talk) 09:28, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Deepfriedokra. BorgQueen edited a couple of days ago but they do not edit frequently. It’s just a matter of courtesy to consult the protecting administrator; if we don’t get a response in a few days, I’ll go ahead and unprotect as I see no problem here. Project Veritas

Project Veritas has a very bias approach to the opening paragraph. I suggest changing the entire first paragraph to a more informative approach and maybe add at the end one sentence saying “there is controversy regarding…..” it just seems very unprofessionally written and/or vandalized. Minimize the politics and add confirmed facts and descriptions please. (talk) 06:48, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The article talk page is currently protected so you can request a specific edit here. You will need to make a clear and specific description of the requested change (in a replace 'x' with 'y' manner) supported by high quality sources and demonstrate that there is consensus for the change. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 11:40, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not unprotected – Please use an edit request to request specific changes to be made to the protected page. As noted above, please make a specific edit request at the article talk page in the form "Please replace X with Y because Z" replacing "X" and "Y" with the exact text you want to remove and replace respectively, and with your rationale replacing Z.
